Si è partiti da un circuito di distorsione classico che è stato modificato per ottenere lead ricchi e ritmiche sature. Con un semplice layout a 3 manopole, regolare la distorsione di questo pedale è molto semplice. Lo switch \u003cstrong\u003eCrunch\u003c\/strong\u003e consente di scegliere tra due diverse modalità di clipping a diodo e a LED, aumentando il contenuto armonico della distorsione. Il suono aperto del Custom Badass '78, simile a quello di un amplificatore valvolare, è perfetto da abbinare sia con un amplificatore pulito, sia con un amplificatore leggermente sporco, sia con il canale overdrive saturo.
